PETALING JAYA: The Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme has contributed RM3.87 billion to the country’s economy up to the end of 2025.

As such, the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry celebrated the programme at an MM2H Programme Appreciation event here last night.

The ministry said 252 MM2H licensed operating companies and strategic partners from government agencies and the private sector were celebrated in the event.

It said, since the implementation of the new policy in June 2024, the programme has recorded a total of 14,535 applications, involving 5,239 principals and 9,296 dependents.

“China is the biggest contributor with 7,600 applications, followed by Taiwan (2,419) and Hong Kong (604). There is also high interest from Singapore, the United States and the United Kingdom.

“The economic contribution amounting to RM3.87 billion includes the collection of participation fees, fixed deposits in local banking institutions, as well as property investments, which have now reached RM1.5 billion,” it said in a statement.

The ministry said property investments are expected to increase by RM2.3 billion when taking into account the number of participants who are in the process of purchasing homes.

At the ceremony, the ministry presented special recognition to five companies that demonstrated outstanding performance.

This included Ecoworks Solutions (MM2H) Sdn Bhd which was given a Gold Award.

To further strengthen the implementation of the MM2H programme, the ministry has digitised the application process through an online system and launched a dedicated promotional website.

It also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Bank of China, besides planning for strategic collaboration with related sectors.

The ministry urged licensed operating companies which have not registered any application to be more aggressive and proactive in promoting the programme internationally.

It said close cooperation between the ministry and other entities such as the Immigration Department, police and the banking and property sectors was a key pillar in ensuring that Malaysia remains the world’s best and safest “second home” destination.

This, it said was in line with the aspirations of Malaysia Madani to build a prosperous, progressive and resilient nation.
